Art of Animation is known for its immersive theming and larger-than-life characters that come to life throughout the property. This is true for the Art of Animation Little Mermaid Rooms that make guests feel like they are sleeping under the sea!
Art of Animation Resort features four different themed areas, each based on a popular Disney and Pixar movie: Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid.
While the other three areas offer suites for bigger families or groups, the Little Mermaid section is dedicated entirely to standard rooms.
The standard room, which can accommodate up to four people includes two Queen beds (or one King), a small table and chairs, and a mini-fridge.
This means that if you are a family of 5 looking for a Disney Resort, The Little Mermaid room will not be available to you.
If you are trying to choose between Art of Animation Little Mermaid Room & Finding Nemo Suite, you should read our Finding Nemo Suite Review.
And while they are standard rooms, the price is not your standard Value resort price. You will find these specialty-themed rooms a little more than other value resort rooms.
This is because they are more immersive in their theming, like the Princess Rooms at Port Orleans.
Staying at the Art of Animation Resort
When you get to Art of Animation Resort, you will have no trouble finding your way to the Little Mermaid wing of rooms.
The entire outside of the set of Little Mermaid wing features an underwater theme with giant statues of Ariel, Ursula and King Triton.
But the theming doesn’t stop there.
As you make your way around the rest of the resort, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into different animated films.
The Finding Nemo area features massive sculptures of characters like Crush and Squirt, while the Cars section has an entire Cozy Cone Motel for guests to explore.
And in The Lion King section, you can pose for photos with a giant statue of Rafiki.
Art of Animation Little Mermaid Rooms
The Little Mermaid rooms are inspired by the Disney animated classic “The Little Mermaid.”
From the moment you step into your room, you will be immersed in Ariel’s underwater world.
From floor to ceiling, you will feel like you are under the sea!
From the colorful starfish bedding to the seashell-shaped headboards, every detail is carefully crafted to bring the beloved animated film to life.
Guests will feel like they have stepped into a scene straight into the movie.
Take a look at the super cute headboards on the double beds shaped like clam shells. The pearl in the center of the shell actually lights up!
You will find Flounder & Sebastian floating on the wall and even a picture of Prince Eric at the Helm of a ship.
Even the bathroom makes you feel part of her world!
The bathroom is a split concept with a vanity and sink in one space and a toilet and shower in a separate area which can be helpful for getting multiple family members ready at once.
There is also ample storage space for all your belongings, including a dresser and hanging area in the vanity area.
Dining at Art of Animation
There is only one option for dining at Art of Animation and that is Land of Flavors.
This quick service option, however, is one of the best at any Value Resort.
From Pizza and Burgers to Shrimp & Grits, this place has a ton of options.
Our favorite part is that it has a full dessert bar with Gelato and Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches.
Little Mermaid fans will want to check out the Mermaid Tail Cupcake! It is a vanilla cupcake filled with pineapple preserves and topped with coconut buttercream, white chocolate Mermaid Tail, graham cracker crumb, crispy pearls, and glitter.
Recreation Activities at Art of Animation
In addition to enjoying the impressive theming and immersive experience, guests staying in a Little Mermaid room can also take advantage of various activities that are offered on-site.
These activities cater to all ages and add a touch of magic to your stay at this popular resort.
The closest pool to the Little Mermaid section is Flippin’ Fins Pool which features the same immersive Ariel and friends theming.
While cute, it isn’t as nice as some of the other pools on the property.
The Big Blue Pool, inspired by Finding Nemo, boasts underwater speakers and is the largest pool on Disney property.
Adjacent is the Schoolyard Sprayground which features pop-up jets and water fun for little ones.
Also nearby is the Righteous Reef playground for kids who prefer to stay dry during playtime.
Families can also enjoy the Cozy Cone Pool, themed after the Cars franchise, which features cone-shaped cabanas for a unique swimming experience.
This interactive water play area features pop jets and fountains, making it a hit with kids of all ages.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the only Disney resort to offer an Animation Academy experience.
This hands-on activity near the Hall of Animation allows guests to learn how to draw some of their favorite Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse and Olaf.
These sessions are led by professional animators and are a great way to add a personalized touch to your vacation.
Movies Under the Stars
After a fun-filled day at the parks, guests can unwind with a movie under the stars at the Big Blue Pool each evening at 8pm.
This outdoor movie experience takes place on select nights and features popular Disney films for all ages to enjoy.
Snacks and refreshments are available for purchase, making it the perfect way to end your day at the resort.
For guests looking to stay active during their vacation, Art of Animation Resort offers jogging trails around the resort’s picturesque lake.
These scenic trails are a great way to explore the resort and get some exercise while taking in the beautiful theming.
You can also walk over to Pop Century Resort and rent a bike to explore the trails of both resorts by bike!
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort offers Ink & Paint Shop located off Animation Hall, just before you get to Landscape of Flavors.
This shop sells Disney merchandise and souvenirs inspired by the resort’s theming of Little Mermaid, Cars and Lion King.
Guests can also visit the Pixel Play Arcade, featuring classic arcade games and modern video games for all ages to enjoy.
