As one of the most popular theme parks in the world, Disney’s Magic Kingdom is home to countless rides and attractions. But which ride stands out as the best in Magic Kingdom? It’s a tough question to answer, but we happen to think it is the best ride in Magic Kingdom is TRON: Lightcycle/Run.
TRON: Lightcycle/Run is the newest rollercoaster in Disney World and is based on the popular film.
It was originally built at Shanghai Disneyland before being replicated in Magic Kingdom in 2023.
The TRON: Lightcycle/ Run takes guests on a thrilling adventure through the world of TRON, where they will feel like they are riding on a futuristic motorcycle.
You will find TRON Lightcycle/Run between Space Mountain and Tomorrowland Speedway.
Riding TRON Lightcycle/Run
Before reaching the queue, you will find test seats for the ride.
The seats look like you are riding a motorcycle and require riders to be able to swing one leg over the seat before they get into a kneeling position.
Your legs will need to fit inside the restraints in order to ride on the futuristic bike.
If your legs are too wide, you may have to opt for a different accessible seat that is available on the back of select trains.
These seats are more like traditional rollercoaster seats where you are sitting straight up with a lap bar.
Inside the queue, guests will have a digitizer laser translate their physical existence into a digital presence as part of Team Blue.
Before boarding, guests will have to store bags, purses, hats, and other items in a locker.
The lockers can be opened using MagicBands or by scanning park tickets. It is important to remember your locker number to retrieve your items after the ride.
Smaller items such as cellphones & sunglasses can be placed in a small enclosed compartment located on top of each Lightcycle.
The vehicles guests will ride are designed to resemble the iconic lightcycles from the TRON films and after the initial take-off, guests will race around a track, that darts in and out of light.
We rode it at night and I think the night experience is probably far better due to the lighting effects.
While I had some initial fear, probably due to the vulnerable body position on the bike and secondly due to not knowing what to expect, I found the ride amazing.
The ride is very smooth and while TRON looks intimidating, I found it to be more exciting than scary.
What Makes TRON Lightcycle/Run the Best Ride in Magic Kingdom
TRON stands out as the best ride in Magic Kingdom due to its innovative technology, immersive theming, and thrilling ride experience.
First, Tron’s ride vehicles are one of the most distinctive features that set this Disney World roller coaster apart from others.
The lightcycles give the rider the combination feeling of vulnerability and excitement as the cycles are propelled along the track.
Secondly, the ride’s speed and intensity make it a must-do for thrill-seekers.
With speeds reaching nearly 60 miles per hour, TRON provides an adrenaline rush like no other as it careens over hills and makes several twists & turns.
Lastly, the ride’s theming and state-of-the-art technology are incredible.
From the sleek, futuristic design of the coaster itself to the immersive theming of the queue and ride are well thought out and executed.
The use of cutting-edge technology such as projection mapping and LED lights adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

How to Ride TRON Lightcycle/Run at Magic Kingdom
TRON currently is using a virtual queue in place of a standby queue.
This is similar to the system previously used for Remy’s Ratatouille and currently being used for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
If you are planning to visit Magic Kingdom, you can attempt to join the virtual queue at 7 am & again at 1 pm.
TRON also offers an individual Lightning Lane option where you can purchase the ability to ride for $20 per person the day of your trip to Magic Kingdom.
Tips for TRON Lightcycle/Run
Guests must also be 48 inches tall to ride so this is not a ride for the littles to enjoy.
This ride is also known to be problematic for people who have large legs, so be sure to use the test seats before getting in the queue so that you will know which seats you’ll be able to use.
