Check Out the NEW Cars Land at Disney California Adventure

by Kristi on July 7, 2012

Today, we have a guest post Suzanne from The Wine{a}be who just visited Cars Land at the NEW Disney California Adventure theme park and wants to share her experience.

Cars Land.  Need I say more?  The much anticipated attraction at Disney’s California Adventure Park {adjacent to Disneyland} is FINALLY open.  We took the family last week to experience Cars Land, and to get in one last fling at the Disney parks before our Annual Passes block us out for the summer.

Cars Land is located at the back of the park.  However, you can spot it from anywhere in the park due to the large rocky hillside that looks just like the mountains in Radiator Springs from the Cars movie.  Head towards them and you will soon find yourself cruising down Route 66 through Radiator Springs.

All of the important movie icons can be found here: The Cozy Cone Motel, Flo’s V8 Café, Ramone’s House of Body Art, Luigi’s Casa Della Tires, even the Radiator Springs City Hall.  However, in Cars Land, they take on their own identity.  For example, the Cozy Cone Motel is a cute cluster of snack shops.  Each cone offers something different…all served in cones!  The Disney designers went all out making everything cone related…cone flower planters, cone light fixtures…the detail is incredible.  Another neat spot, Sarge’s Surplus, is a Cars themed store…everything Cars can be found here…from shirts and toys to Mater’s teeth!  I’m not joking. They are rather funny!

Three exciting rides can be found in Cars Land.  Luigi’s Casa Della Tires is the entrance for Luigi’s Flying Tires.  Climb aboard oversized tires, grab a giant beach ball, and float on air.  It is fun for all!  Head towards the Radiator Springs City Hall and you will be near the new Radiator Racers…the amazing attraction where you get to race in a car through the awe inspiring terrain of Radiator Springs…just like Lightning McQueen and Sally did in the movie.  Once again, the designers did an incredible job, the rocky hillside, the waterfall, you feel like you are a part of the movie.  It is quite beautiful.  Even Mater has a spot in the new Cars Land…it wouldn’t be complete without him!  At Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree you can spin in circles aboard a trailer pulled by a tractor.  Very fun!

As revved up as Cars Land is during the day, at night it glows all over with neon, just like Radiator Springs…back in its glory day.  It is truly magical.

Overall, the new Cars Land was a huge hit with my family.  We felt like we were right in the movie, riding low and slow, and enjoying every minute.  We can’t wait to go back!

Suzanne is a Midwestern raised Southern California resident {“Toto…we’re not in Kansas anymore”} who truly believes that Disney is the “Happiest Place on Earth.”  She loves taking her family to experience Disney Magic whenever possible. She can be found blogging her days away at The Wine{a}be, where she writes about living near wine country and life…one glass at a time.  After all, life is an adventure best shared with friends, laughter, and a good glass of wine.  Please stop by and say Hi!
